About Us

At the heart of the #kNOwKnifeCrime campaign is a commitment to education, prevention, and empowerment. We work directly with schools, colleges, and community centres to engage young people in honest, impactful conversations about the dangers of carrying a knife — or being associated with someone who does.

About kNOwKnifeCrime

Through interactive sessions and assemblies, we aim to educate, inspire, and equip young people with the knowledge and confidence to make positive choices. We don’t just speak to them — we work with them.

Young people who take part in the campaign are invited to become #kNOwKnifeCrime Community Ambassadors. As ambassadors, they help spread our message, lead fundraising efforts to provide youth anti-knife crime prevention materials like KnifeSavers bleed control kits and Mini Medics Emergency First Aid training, and take pride in becoming active community safety citizens.

We believe real change starts with education — and that young people have the power to lead it.

Our History

In 2001, our world changed forever. Colin McGinty was just 21 years old when he was brutally murdered in a terrible case of mistaken identity. At the time, knife crime wasn’t something we saw or heard about every day — certainly not the way we do now. Colin’s death not only devastated our family and friends, but it also shook the Merseyside community and made national headlines.

More than 20 years on, knife crime has become a tragic and growing part of everyday life. The stories are more frequent, the victims are getting younger, and the incidents more horrific. What once felt unthinkable has now become heartbreakingly common.

Colin McGinty Family

Colin’s story is at the heart of everything we do. His memory drives our mission and inspires the #kNOwKnifeCrime campaign. As a family, we are determined to create something positive from such a senseless loss. We refuse to let Colin’s death be in vain — and through education, awareness, and action, we are working to make a lasting difference.
