Christina Greaves, Head at Kew Woods Primary School and Director of Primary Education within Southport Learning Trust, has been a passionate supporter of the #kNOwKnifeCrime campaign. After learning about the work being carried out across the region, Christina reached out to get involved. In this short video, she shares why the campaign struck a chord with her as an educator and the impact it has had on the schools she works with.

Christina first became aware of #kNOwKnifeCrime through the growing presence the campaign had in local schools and communities. Recognising the seriousness of knife crime and the importance of addressing it early, she felt compelled to reach out and see how her school and wider trust could support.

From the outset, she saw how the campaign’s message connected with children in a way that was both age-appropriate and powerful. The opportunity to engage pupils in fundraising while also learning about positive choices gave them a sense of ownership and pride in being part of something bigger.

Through her leadership, Kew Woods Primary School and schools across the Southport Learning Trust became key partners in delivering the message. The collaboration not only helped to raise funds for vital KnifeSavers bleed control kits, but also brought in Mini Medics Emergency First Aid training sessions, giving pupils the knowledge and confidence to act in an emergency.

For Christina, the campaign has shown how schools can be at the forefront of positive change. By combining education with real-life action, young people have felt empowered to take a stand and play their part in keeping their communities safer.
