Earlier this year, the kNOwKnifeCrime campaign delivered our Dear MP workshop to Year 6 pupils at St James' Primary School. The workshop encourages young people to understand that they have the power to influence change by raising issues that matter to them with the people who can make a difference.
As part of the workshop, the pupils wrote letters to their local MP, David Haines, asking him to support the kNOwKnifeCrime campaign's ambition to increase the availability of bleed control equipment across their local community.
What happened next perfectly demonstrates the power of young people's voices.
David Haines raised the children's campaign in Parliament with the Policing Minister, helping shine a spotlight on the importance of improving access to bleed control equipment.
The campaign also inspired CETRA Community Centre to ask how they could help, leading to a bleed control kit being installed at their premises thanks to the generosity of Steve Caunce Ltd.
