The kNOwKnifeCrime campaign is delighted to have received funding from the FPC Foundation to support the delivery of our youth knife crime prevention work across schools within Southport Learning Trust.
Prevention Through Education
At kNOwKnifeCrime, we believe prevention has to start with education. Our workshops are designed to engage young people in meaningful conversations rather than simply telling them what not to do. We want young people to understand choices, consequences, peer pressure and the wider impact that knife crime and serious violence can have on individuals, families, friendship groups and communities.
The funding will support the delivery of a range of our established workshops across primary and secondary schools within Southport Learning Trust, including:
Dear MP – A civic action workshop that gives young people a voice, helping them understand how they can engage with local leaders and influence positive change within their communities.
Re-Write The Story – An interactive workshop exploring joint enterprise, choices and consequences, encouraging young people to think about how the decisions they make today can affect their future.
Every Second Counts – Our emergency bleed control first aid workshop, giving young people practical skills and the confidence to respond appropriately to a serious bleeding emergency.
Each workshop approaches prevention from a different perspective, but they share the same purpose: to educate, empower and equip young people to make positive choices.
Working With Southport Learning Trust
This funding provides us with an important opportunity to work alongside Southport Learning Trust and its schools, reaching young people at an age where early intervention and positive education can make a real difference.
Knife crime prevention isn't just about talking about knives. It is about helping young people understand the decisions they make, giving them the confidence to make different choices, encouraging them to speak up when something isn't right and showing them that their voices matter.
We are extremely grateful to the FPC Foundation for recognizing the importance of this work and investing in prevention.
Their support will allow kNOwKnifeCrime to continue taking practical, engaging and potentially lifesaving education directly into schools and communities. Because preventing knife crime starts long before someone picks up a knife.
